The year 2022, started with our lives normalising post-COVID-19 and for students, the colleges were again offline, I also went back to NOIDA for my final semester and yes, I am graduating! The word graduation holds a different meaning for everyone and for me it was uncertainty. After three years of college, heading teams for several events and leading the team for placement cell, here comes the end to this life and the question remains the same, what next?
I started looking for a placement as a safe option and at the same time, I am also planning to prepare for CAT to pursue an MBA later. Now, the process of finding a good placement is difficult, especially when you are not from DU in the Delhi NCR region as companies do not visit your college for a variety of profiles but only for sales. Thus, I began hunting on LinkedIn and eventually found two jobs for the 3.5 LPA to 4 LPA package, but since I was not satisfied with the profile I declined those offers and went for another search, the goal was to have a good profile to have a good resume.
After searching for two months and giving the final exams I got a call from a company and gave an interview for a profile of my choice. I cleared the case study round, then an interview round and then finally an internship round and received an offer letter from them. Everything suited my need for the job yet I am doubtful, reason? I was expecting a package similar to the last two offers as it was the market standard for freshers after BBA and when I received a package way above the average package I was shocked and could hardly believe it as I got the highest or one of the highest package among my batchmates. All I realised from this incident was
We almost underestimate our skills due to a lack of recognition.
We become doubtful about ourselves due to lesser opportunities.
We take wrong decisions due to a lack of patience.
We can do a lot more than what the others are seeking from us.
To conclude, it is easy to underestimate yourself and settle on an average or bad opportunity or to make a bad decision but it is always important to know your worth and to look for opportunities that satisfy your worth be it in terms of value or in terms of money as your primary focus should be growth and thus look for opportunities that create a path for your way in your fresher years so that you can pursue your way to achieve your goals.
